Instructions for your arrival to SSIR 2006

Dear SSIR 2006 participant, here you have some valuable information for your arrival to the Student’s Recidences at the “Centre Régional des Oeuvres Universitaires et Scolaires” (CROUS) and to the Summer School site the “Polytec’Montpellier” (Université Montpellier 2). The Summer school site is located northwest of Montpellier, in an area called "Hopitaux Facultés" (Hospital and Faculties) near the hospitals Saint Eloi and Gui de Chaulliac.

IMPORTANT NOTES 1. The bus route number is given for your information. Note that the bus companies can change timetables and/or route number 2. International calls must avoid the first “0” from the telephone number on France. For example, (+33) 04 67 41 85 85 becomes 33 4 67 41 85 85 from foreign countries. From France you only dial 04 67 41 85 85.

Arriving to the Cité Universitaire

“Résidence Les Arceaux “

By public transportation

from Train Station “Gare Saint Roch”

Right in front of the train station you will find the Montpellier Bus lines. Take the Bus line 6 towards "Professeur Blayac", and get off at the « Avenue de l’Agriculture» stop. The residence is within a short walking distance of the bus stop (2mn). Total time from downtown is around 15 minutes. At your arrival to the residence please go the reception desk (“accueil” in French) and ask for your room by giving your full name. Do don’t have to pay any thing here. You will pay (if that is the case) you room at the registration desk on Monday morning.

Arriving to the Université Montpellier 2 by public transportation from “Résidence Les Arceaux”

Take the bus line 6 from “Avenue de l’Agriculture” towards “Pas du Loup”, and get off at the “Gare Saint Roch” stop . Take afterwards the tramway towards “La Mosson” and get off at the “Universités des sciences et des lettres » stop on « Avenue Augustin Fliche ». The registration desk is within a short walking distance of this stop (2mn). Total time from Résidence les arceaux to the Université is 30mn.

Arriving to the Université Montpellier 2 By Car

Montpellier is around 700 kilometers from Paris. Take the A9 and get out at exit 28 (Vendargues), then follow signs to Montpellier (Hôpitaux-Facultés).

From highway exit 28, take N113 for 2.3 km, N110 for 0.8 km, D65 for 8,2 km. From Montpellier, take Avenue V. Auriol for 3 km, then route de Mende for 0.8km, turn to the left to Ave du Professeur Emile Jeanbrau (you are behind the entrance of the Université Montpellier 2). You reach the entrance by taking the Avenue de l’Abbé Paul Parguel (to the left).

Arriving to Montpellier By Plane or Train

By plane :

The Montpellier Mediterranean International Airport is located 10 km from downtown. There are around 11 daily flights between Montpellier and Paris airports Charles De Gaulle and Orly (flight time only 1h10). There are direct flights to Ajaccio, Bastia, Bordeaux, Lille, Lyon, Nantes, Nice, Perpignan, Strasbourg, and the U.K..

There is an airport shuttle with convenient departures after every plan from Paris (cost around 4.60 Euros). It takes 15 minutes to get to the center of town, arriving at first level of the SNCF train station, right next to the bus station.

By train :

The SNCF train station is located near the town center, with several fast TGV trains to and from Paris every day. The trip to Paris takes around 3h30.

Arriving to the Université Montpellier 2

By public transportation

Right in front of the train station you will find the Montpellier tramway. Take the tram towards "La Mosson", and get off at the « Universités des sciences et des lettres » stop on « Avenue Augustin Fliche ». The registration desk is within a short walking distance of this stop (2mn). Total time from downtown is around 15 minutes.

At your arrival to Université Montpellier 2

Go to the registration desk and register (From 8:00). Very important, please bring with you your student ID and a photocopy of it, you will be asked for those documents at the registration desk.
